It’s the end of January 2024 and the buzz in the AV industry is palpable. There’s a good reason for that: the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) event is on! Now, this year is special, as it marks the 20th edition of the illustrious AV event, and as professionals deeply entrenched in the world of all things audiovisual, our anticipation at SFM is almost electric. This premier event, held annually in Europe, is the world’s leading audiovisual and systems integration exhibition. It showcases top technology innovators and solution providers from the world over (including many of our valued partners) as well as insightful conferences, events and experiences, and networking opportunities.

Here’s our take on what attendees can expect from ISE 2024, which runs from January 30 to February 2, and promises to be a spectacular convergence of innovation, technology, and creativity.

Midwich Group AV on Air Space

As a member of the Midwich Group, we’d be remiss not to mention the return of their professional production space and give kudos for the support they’re showing the content creation ecosystem in the AV industry for the second year in a row.

Located at the Midwich Group booth in hall three (3R150), the space is managed by a production technician from Holdan (the specialist broadcast, media, and entertainment division of Midwich Ltd) and lets registered users record content with up to four people at a time. There are no live streaming capabilities, but participating users will receive professionally produced content after their session. Alternatively, if they’d prefer to edit the material themselves, they’ll receive the raw footage. This is a great initiative to ensure that communications from and about the event are brought to fruition at a high standard. The sole caveat? The space is fully booked this year. Regardless, we can’t wait to see what’s on tap for the creators who were able to get a timeslot.

ISE Sound Experience Area

Our partners are planning some exciting showings in their respective demo rooms. With the likes of EAW, Shure, and Q-SYS all furnishing their own demo experiences, attendees will get to see a wide range of state-of-the-art AV solutions sure to raise the bar across markets. From ceiling microphones to speaker arrays, to networked AV, our partners take the trends across various sectors seriously. They strive to provide the tools needed meet the market where it is and where it’s going.

Lighting & Staging

For those seeking a bit of “illumination,” the Lighting & Staging Zone at ISE is where it’s at: Lighting, lighting control, rigging, staging equipment, motion tracking, video mapping, holography, and more. All of this converging in solutions for venues ranging from the small and temporary, to major stadiums. LED lighting has revolutionized various sectors, offering advanced features like intricate color mixing, built-in effects libraries, and responsive audio effects. Brands like ADJ offer pixel-pitch LED screens to provide endpoints for dynamic visual content, while Christie brings projection mapping to the table to level-up on visual appeal.

Show-stopping Multi-Technologies of the AV Industry

This is the heart of the show: the ISE Multi-Technology Zone. This section promises to highlight the extensive innovation going on right now within the AV industry and hosts numerous exhibitors ranging from the well-established to rising stars like Birddog. Camera technology, especially PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom), is advancing to meet diverse market demands in the retail, healthcare, security, and hospitality sectors. PTZ cameras, known for their small size and easy setup, now offer high resolutions, with 4K becoming standard.

Of course, sound also plays a key role here. So, attendees can expect to see–amongst other advancements–improvements to microphones, going beyond echo cancellation and noise reduction, and into beamforming capabilities that track and isolate voices for next-level clarity and precision of communications

Artificial Intelligence

It goes without saying that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on the minds of many. The changes it’s set to bring are just so integral and far reaching, how could it not be. Perhaps we’ll get to see real-time transcription and translation using natural language models, and other ways that manufacturers are leveraging AI in their products. Like RTI’s smart camera systems, providing accurate and automatic camera framing adjustments.

AI’s impact on the AV world is going to be immense across industries. If you ask us, this is all very exciting!

Not Just Another Tech Event

There’s so much more than we could lay out here that makes ISE 2024 not just another AV tech event; it’s a glimpse into the future of how we interact with technology in our daily lives. The rapid pace of innovation in the AV sector means that what we see at ISE could soon become integral to our work, entertainment, and social interactions. As a company that’s passionate about how technology shapes our world, SFM sees ISE as more than just a professional interest; it’s about being part of a community that’s at the forefront of defining the future.

As we prepare to attend, we can’t help but feel a sense of privilege and excitement. And for anyone who shares this passion, ISE 2024 is an event that simply cannot be missed. So, for those who can make it, join us in Barcelona for the AV event of the year!

If you’re going to ISE 2024, be sure to stop and say hello to some of our partners.
