Job Statement

In collaboration with the Senior Designer of Custom Products, the main responsibilities of the Product Designer/Draftsman are to respond to customer requests and review their needs, make technical recommendations, design custom products, produce bill-of-material & quotes, and produce and submit technical drawings (AutoCAD®).

For example, the types of products to be designed are:

  • Professional audio, video, electrical, fiber optic, or control cables including point-to-point and multipair cables
  • Custom connection plates; wall, rackmount, etc.
  • Mobile electrical racks
  • Electrical, audio, or control cabling schematics
  • The Product Designer/Draftsman will also be responsible for the creation and continuous updates of our workshop drawings and assembly instructions for our standard cable products.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate has completed a professional college diploma (DEP) or equivalent in electrical engineering
    Must have a strong knowledge of the 2D AutoCAD software (3D AutoCAD is considered an asset)
  • Must be able to easily use Windows and the Office Suite
  • Knowledge of SOLIDWORKS and/or Autodesk Revit is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of laser engraving device, 3D printer, and CNC is considered an asset
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues, customers, and suppliers in a professional manner
  • Bilingual (English & French)
  • Regular, full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Work is carried out at SFM head office located in Dorval, Québec
